The By-laws committee has 2 items to share this month.  

1)   It has been moved and seconded that IWOCO consider changing the name of our Association.  This has been suggested to make our name be more professional in nature by removing the gender based connotation.  We may also want to consider Central Ohio rather than Columbus to attract more members from the Central Ohio area.  

Some suggestions for new names include:  Insurance Professionals of Columbus   Ohio, Insurance Professionals of Central Ohio and Central Ohio Insurance Professionals.   

There will be discussion on this proposed amendment at the January business meeting. Other suggestions for                    names are welcome and should be sent to Sherry.Distelhorst@StateAuto.com.  If the motion to amend the name is passed we will address options for the new name.     

2) It has been proposed that we change the verbiage of the standing rule on National Conference delegate for clarification purposes

B.         The Association shall send one delegate to the National Convention.  The registration fee will be paid by the Association.  Up to $500 will be available for proportionate travel and hotel expenses for the duration of the event (refer to Job Description Book).  The Association shall pay registration for an alternate if the alternate is president-elect.  In the event the president-elect  is not attending, the Association shall choose an alternate from the  members attending and will not pay the registration fee.

B.         The Association shall send one delegate to the National Convention.   

            The National Convention delegate will be the Association president for the coming fiscal year.  The delegate's registration fee and up to $500 for proportionate travel and hotel expenses for the duration of the event          (refer to Job Description Book) will be paid by the Association.

                        The National Convention alternate delegate will be the Association president-elect for the coming fiscal year.   The registration will be paid by the Association.

                         If the president-elect for the coming fiscal year will not be attending the National Convention the association will choose an alternate from the members attending.  The registration will not be paid by the Association.
