IPOCO Membership

We’re not “monkey-ing” around

Now that we’re into the 2009-2010 season, as the membership chair I have two goals to accomplish:

bulletGrow our membership
bulletHelp create a brochure for our local IPOCO

Sounds easy enough … but I ran into a stumbling block … why join IPOCO?

The NAIW has a clear mission statement and brand which we emulate, but, before we could reach-out for new members, or create a brochure I felt I needed a better understanding of what IPOCO means at the local level.

During the September meeting a lively discussion on this topic ensued.  Many great ideas and suggestions were noted.  Sherry Distelhorst (president) and I felt this was the tip of the iceberg and that a brief survey of all members was warranted.

Enter … Survey Monkey.com.  All active members with email addresses were sent message asking for participation in an online survey.  The 7 survey questions were:

  1. How long have you been a member of NAIW?
  2. Explain why you joined this local association
  3. What keeps you coming back?
  4. In your opinion, what does IPOCO do well?
  5. In your opinion, what is IPOCO not doing well, or can be improved?
  6. What key phrases and words do you think of when you think of IPOCO?
  7. What images come to mind when you think of presenting IPOCO and NAIW to others?

Nearly 39% members responded by the deadline for this newsletter.  “We would like input from as many members as possible” stated Sherry Distelhorst.  If you need assistance of any sort, please contact Julie.Williams@stateauto.com to assure your responses are collected.

What next?  It all depends on your feedback in the survey.  Results from the survey will be shared at the October officers and general meetings.  With your help, we’ll take that information and work as a team to create a clear message to use for new members and an IPOCO brochure.
