IPOCO’s regular monthly meeting was held at BOMA, Columbus, Ohio.

Program:  Pat Johnson spoke on behalf of Betsy Adams about Ohio Council.  Awards were distributed by Margaret Wildi and Angie Schmitt.  The Silpada fundraiser was held.

The meeting was called to order at 7:25 p.m. by President Sherry Distelhorst

Resume of Correspondence-Stacey Nichols

Stacey Nichols reported that a thank-you was received from Karry Ellis, Assistant Chief of the Columbus Division of Fire, for our donation and hospitality at the last meeting.  Also, a thank-you note was received from Sherry for the donation in her name to the Lillian Lane Scholarship Fund.  The Insurance Women of Akron extended an invitation to their 70^th Anniversary on May 20^th at The Galaxy Restaurant in Wadsworth, OH.  The cost is $35 and RSVPs to Sue Shaw are due by May 17^th.   There is a job opening for an Account Executive in Dublin at Philadelphia Insurance Companies.  If you would like more information, please see Stacey. 

Treasurer’s Report-Diana Howell

Sherry report in Diana’s absence that IPOCO’s net worth is $14,449.15.  The report will be filed for audit.  If any member wants a copy contact Diana.   

Bylaws Report-Heidi Kugler

Heidi reported that everyone received a copy of the proposed changes to the NAIW Bylaws.  Voting will take place at National.  Recommendations for changes need to be submitted to Faye by May 15^th.    

Audit and Budget-Angie Schmitt-no report

Community Service Report-Karen Lawson

Karen passed around the whale for donations.  The donation will be made to the Ohio Literacy Council next month.

Theresa Marut-Orenchuk read Standing Rule 16A. 

Sherry announced that it has been moved by direction of the Nominating Committee that Standing Rule 16A be suspended for this slate of officers.  Motion passed. 

New Business:

Congratulations to Angie Schmitt for receiving her DAE designation. 

Announcements:

Membership renewal forms are here tonight.  Checks and completed forms need to be submitted to Dianna Howell by June 1^st.

May 20^th-Board meeting will be held at State Auto.

May 20^th is Akron’s 70^th Anniversary Dinner

June 3^rd’s business meeting will be the officer installation ceremony.

June 9-12 is the NAIW National Conference in Washington, D.C. 

Pat Johnson reported that IPOCO will be 70 next February.  She also noted that the Akron association founded IPOCO.  We will discuss later how we wish to celebrate this milestone.  Pat asked how we can scan in the two IPOCO history books that she has at home to upload to our website.  After discussion, it was decided that we will unbind them and scan them via email.  Pat will continue to keep the originals with her.
