NETWORKING WEEKEND 2009 - AUGUST 21 – 23
HOSTED BY SCIOTO VALLEY INSURANCE PROFESSIONALS;
Come join us for a unique and relaxing weekend
in Ohio's first Capitol founded in 1796 and nestled in the beautiful, historic
Scioto Valley
Friday evening- Enjoy
a fun, relaxing evening in the pool or hospitality suite with games, food,
drinks and just good old networking.
Saturday - We
will have breakfast at the hotel and load onto a custom coach for a tour of
Adena, the first Ohio governor’s mansion. Adena was the home of Thomas
Worthington and is an important historic asset to Ohio and all Ohioans. Thomas
Worthington was Ohio's first U.S. senator, sixth governor and is known as the
"Father of Ohio Statehood." His beautiful home in Chillicothe,
finished in 1807, is a premier example of the Georgian style of architecture.
The estate grounds which reflect gardening practices of the era are enhanced by
formal gardens, vegetable gardens and a fruit orchard; the view from the summit
overlooks Mt. Logan, the inspiration for the Great Seal of Ohio.
We will then
cruise back down the hill to the beautiful Yoctangee Park!
Lunch will be served by Chillicothe’s finest catering service, a Touch
of Class Catering. Walking through the park and checking out the swans can be
done after or before you enter into the historic shopping area in downtown
Chillicothe where the first capitol building can be seen. You can visit the pool
in the park with waterslides, beach volleyball, walking paths, or just plain
relax on the site in a comfy lawn chair and network, read a book, whatever your
heart desires -- we help you make it happen. For the more modern Millie’s in
the group, transit will be provided back to the mall area if you prefer the
modern shopping arena.
We then head
back to the hotel for relaxing or a siesta… then taking a step back in time
like early pioneers, we will trek (by trusty motor coach) up Sugarloaf Mountain
where there awaits a delicious home cooked buffet dinner including drinks and
dessert. Following dinner will be a tour of the amphitheater & a visit to
the backstage lots where the actors and horses live. Then the highlight of the
evening...the exciting, entertaining & educational production of Tecumseh!
(Horses, cannons, Indians, soldiers, romance -OH MY!)
Following the play, we get the opportunity to meet some of characters
starring in the production up close & personal.
Tecumseh’s
reputation for artistic excellence in performance, staging and design has
garnered international acclaim. Quality production elements such as the
play’s hauntingly beautiful Native American Music Score – (recorded
exclusively by The London Symphony Orchestra) – and its narration
sequences recorded by Native American Actor Graham Greene, continue to thrill
audience members of all ages. (Why not bring your family for this exciting,
educational and critically acclaimed step back into Early American history?)
All good
things must come to an end & like pioneers; we’ll take the trusty coach
back to the hotel & call it an evening.
Sunday morning our pioneers return to the 21st Century, have breakfast at
the hotel & depart for a safe trip home.
