President’s Message December 2009                        

The Ohio Council Meeting was fun and educational.  Friday night there was a tailgate party at Central Insurance.  We also had an opportunity to have a chair massage and a foot detox.  There was also WI bowling for those who were interested.  The purpose of this meeting is election of council officers for the next term (June 2010 through May 2011).  Keep checking the Ohio Council website for information and pictures from that event.  

The keynote speaker was Joel Penton.  He is a 2006 graduate of The Ohio State University and a former defensive tackle for the OSU football team.   He was a member of the 2002 national championship team and actually let us pass his championship ring around.  That’s some bling you don’t get to see every day.   He motivated us to have Faith, make Commitments and be Accountable.      

Joel also shared some inspiration from the Ohio State team.  They end their team meetings reciting this inspirational quote.   

I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do. What I can do, I should do. And what I should do, by the grace of God, I will do.” - Edward Everett Hale

Vikki Angelo shared the fact that there are a number of ISFA scholarships are not being used every year.  With tighter budgets this year it might be a good time to look at these on the national website.  

While you are on the national website be sure to look at the new NAIW logo products. 

National has been sending emails to notify us of the availability of the new series of webinars.  If you can take advantage of these they are inexpensive CE credits and should be easy to take from your home or office computer.   The webinars on website access are still available through the national website if you want some tips on getting the most out of this website.
