President’s
Message June 2010
This
week is NAIW week. NAIW week is designated as a time to celebrate the heritage
of NAIW and the contributions of men and women in the insurance industry. We celebrated this year with our May meeting at BOMA.
This was a very nice dinner and location.
Thank you, Elaine, for arranging this . Pat Johnson did a nice job of
filling in for our Ohio Council Director Betsy Adams, who was unable to attend
due to a family emergency, and provided the Ohio Council report for our
association. Angie Schmitt and
Margaret Wildi presented our association awards. The awards given this year
include: Associate of the Year, John Petrucci from State Auto, Claim Associate
of the Year, Vikki Angelo, and Insurance Professional of the Year, Heidi Kugler.
You
should have received your 2010/2011 renewal form. Your completed form and a
check for your dues are due to Diana Howell by June 1st. If you have not received your renewal form please contact
Diana or me Local dues are $25.00. National
dues for regular members are $86.00. Total dues are $111. Contact Diana at hh@rrcol.com
if you need her address or additional information. Diana will contact you if she has not received your dues and
renewal information by June 1st.
Our renewals are submitted to National before the National due date.
Dues information is documented in our association Bylaws and Standing
Rules. These are available on the
website.
The
Central Ohio Insurance Education Day committee met last week to determine how to
distribute their proceeds. We will
provide 4 scholarships again this year. We
will work with Lowes and the Columbus Fire Department to provide smoke detectors
to Central Ohio residents. We are
supporting registration of 2 students to Ohio Business Week. We are also donating to the OII, Ronald McDonald House and
the Mid Ohio Food Bank. See Sherry

We
are nearing the end of our association year.
Our June meeting program will be installation of officers for the
2010/2011 association year. That
year begins July 1, 2010. Heidi,
our incoming president, will represent us as a delegate at National.
Margaret Wildi will be installed as National president.
As this year draws to a close let us know what you liked about the
programs and activities you enjoyed or did not like this year and what you would
like to see next year. This will help us with planning.
It’s
been a great two years. I have
enjoyed serving as your president and am looking forward to the next two years
under Heidi’s guidance.
